Bob Barker was born in Darrington, WA, but grew up on the Rosebud Indian Reservation near Mission, SD. His mother, Matilda Tarleton Barker, was a schoolteacher and County Superintendent of Schools for Todd County. She authored a state history book called "Our State" for South Dakota sixth graders. Bob Barker holds 17 Emmy awards, including 13 as a TV host (the most by any performer), three as an Executive Producer of "The Price Is Right," and the Lifetime Achievement Emmy Award for Daytime Television in 2004.
